Oh awesome! I picked up an old Soviet kit at our IPMS Christmas party years ago and was going to build it till I was tipped off it sold for over a hundred bucks US on Ebay!!! Guess I should have tried selling the thing but now I doubt it's worth much so I guess I should go ahead and build the darn thing...

I have a kit winging its way from the Ukraine - will post photos when it arrives in about 2 weeks.

I need to look into what it would take to convert the RoG An-225 to the carrier aircraft.

In case anyone is interested, the Ark 1/144 Buran is available, now with more extensive tile decals:

The initial realease earlier this year included only minimal decals like the Anigrand kits.  And prices were crazy - in the $60 to $80 range, certainly not justifiable.

From what I have seen it is a simplistic kit.  I have no idea how accurate it is, but IIRC the real thing had smaller OMS fairings, no main engines, and the wing leading edges were less curved.

I have evil plans to convert one into the BTS-02 air breathing prototype.  It was basically a Buran with four turbojets scabbed on the rear end, to permit conventional take-offs for initial airworthiness trials.  I just need to source some 1/144 Tu-22 Blinder landing gear.

-ORRRRRRR-

I do have Revell's enormous An-225 Mriya.  Crud, I should have ordered two Buran!
