1/1 Command Module... nearly completed... (pics)

I have posted some progress pictures of this project in the past but I thought I would post some photos of the CM as it nears completion. There are just a few details to add and it will be ready for shipment to NY.

The main section of the parachute assembly and docking tube is complete, what remains to be installed up on top are the two drogue chute mortars, some of the electrical cables and various bells and whistles.

The CM had to be re-engineered a little in order to fit on a truck to NY, so it was cut into two sections. It was a bit scary to put the saw to the old girl, but it worked out rather well. Now with the removal of 20 screws and the unclasping of four hasps, the CM can be broken into two sections for storage or easy transportation to special events.

Bare in mind that the CM was not designed to have any interior detail.

I like it! Is that made of metal or what? It'd be neat to do up an interior for that. I love 1:1 models. Haven't built any 1:1 models yest have always wanted to build some. be some good conversation pieces.

Holy Space Capsules Batman!!!!

That's awesome!Bow [bow]

Just out of curiosity...where do you live?  The house style and greenery remind me of Puget Sound, WA where I lived for over 10 years.

If I had a small house, I'd build a small tower, and top it with that capsule, and that's where I'd build my modelsCool [8D]
