I've been off and on working on the Hasegawa 1/200 Space Shuttle Orbiter, the one that includes the full stack and the launch pad. The model isn't very difficult if you want something along those ligns for your son, and the kit actually builds up quite nicely. One of the realy great things about the kit, though, is that it comes with markings for every Shuttle. Makes a good "father / son" project, and isn't too expensive (about $20.)
