FYI I picked mine up for about 75.00 from hobbylinc a few months back. Picked up 2 of them (and I also have a third unassembled from the last time it was issued).

You MAY still be able to get a replacement part from Stevens International (they were the importers). As for squadron, I tend not to buy from them unless I have to. It's just that I've always found them to be a bit pricey. Hobbylinc, otoh, has almost always been less expensive than the competition.

Hey Snoopy,

Two points. Revell of Germany just re-released the 1/96 scale Revell Apollo Saturn V 25th anniversary model (1994) and there are quite a few brand new, never opened kits available on eBay in the $70 to $80 range. Check it out as the situation is sure not to last long. Second, if you have the Monogram kit of the Apollo Saturn V it is in 1/144 scale not the 1/96 scale of the Revell kit. Look on ebay and you'll find average to mint in the box examples for between $10 and $30. Take care and good luck!

Brad,
I know I'm getting old but if you have just purchased the 60th aniversary model of the Revell 1/96 Apollo Saturn V rocket then it is 2029 and I have lost all track of time and space. Considering that the 40th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing will not happen until 2009, I'm kind of thinking that you may have mistated your comment/question. Finally, go to www.realspacemodels.com. Glenn Johnson is an award winning modeler that manufacturers and sells high quality, beautifully detailed resin models of historic spacecraft and boosters. He sells a 1/96 scale kit of the Apollo Block II CSM including the boost cover that is made specifically for your Revell kit. It's an incredible bargain at $25. Good luck!

If anyone is interested I have just completed an Airfix 1/144 scale saturn 5. It is a nice basic kit and a good scale for display if you have not got alot of room. I have also built the revell 1/96 kit but found it way to big and also very labour intensive.

An alternative idea would be to check out www.realspacemodels.com

They sell a resin kit of an improved capsule for the Revell kit. Here's the address direct to the product:
