HELP - Adding LEDs and other lighting.....
Posted by Anonymous on Monday, June 9, 2003 1:50 AM
Eight Ball [8]
Can someone suggest a good how to manual (or website) that can teach me how to add LEDs and Floresant lighting to my model(s)?

I'm looking for something (or anything) that can suggest the best power type, and placement ideas. As well as describe the pro's and con's of the different types of lighting available.

Thanks!

I can recall an article about 10 or so years ago on how to light a model of the Star Trek Enterprise. It used LED's as well as Florecent bulbs. I'll try to dig it up tonight if I can and scan some of it. Is that the kind of thing you want?

They used to have a fiber optic kit for the Enterprise class starships available from AMT, I think. Ran around $40, but it had everything you need to light the ship. If I remeber correctly, it came out to around 300 feet of optics. You may still be able to find the old kits on ebay, or it may still be in production.

FineScale had some articles on the subject:

March 1995 - Lighting AMT Klingon Battle Cruiser
Sept 1997 - Lighting Monogram Star Trek
April 1998 - Lighting Klingon Bird of Prey

Opps...sorry I forgot. Can I get it to you first of next week? I'm at work now and I'm going out of town after work. Again, sorry.
