Posted by Anonymous on Tuesday, June 14, 2005 1:10 AM
Has anyone seen Polar Lights kit's at Big Lots. I got the Incredible Hulk and Lost in space with Mr Smith and the Robot but that's all I have seen and was wondering if anyone else found any other different one's at Big Lot's ?

Haven't seen them at my local store. May have to try a few others.

This'll sound crazy but first off, the Big Lots here in Florida don't appear to carry too many models- what little they do have is what I'd call "typically generic"- race cars and an airplane of one kind or another- and little else...

Now, in Illinois- I save my money for the trip back to my home neck of the woods and shop at "what used to be a Big Lots" and is now some privately owned arts/craft/ retail shopping outlet...

Stuff I can't find in Florida, I know I can get in Southern Illinois- I've picked up a Polar Lights ["original"] Lost in Space saucer in custom chrome, a Revell repro of the Saturn V launch vehicle [the HUGE one!], the Monogram 1/32nd Apollo Command/Service module, and lasly the 1/12th Mercury Capsule- this place never has more than one or two of these when I've gone- but I can lay even money down that if it's something I'll want or need, if/when I make a trip, they have had it each and every time!

As I mentioned earlier- the store itself used to be a Big Lots- the sign is still on the building- just painted over and vynil lettering applied... I wonder if they're getting some of BL's inventory as a side venture?

Get it- it's worth it!

I don't ever recall a Jetson's model back in the 60s- so am I correct that this is a Polar original?

The LIS ship is incredible- I'm certain that if this is a line in the sand for quality I'd give them a solid 8 [hey, there's always that mold line and limited flash with a piece her or there that needs coaxing...]

Though it's not space related, there's a Wallace and Grommit set of kits I'd love to get my hands on [one I think is from "A Grande Day Out" which involves a trip to the moon... Does that count?]

PS, Mikeym- I LOVE The Tau! Cool [8D]

I'm a big 40K fan!
