Micro-review of Heller "Mir"
Posted by Anonymous on Monday, August 11, 2003 1:19 PM
I found this model at a local hobby shop for reasonable amounts of dough, but couldn't find an on-line review of it. I'd never built a Heller kit before, but no one else (that I could find) makes a Mir kit, so I bought it and put it together.

Long story short: It's not bad. Light on details, but the parts fit well and there is minimal sanding/filling that needs to be done.

Unfortunately the box cover is a painting (and a bad one at that) so I've turned to the web for images on how it should be painted.

The instructions use Heller numbers for paints, but the web turned up conversion number for tamiya, etc so that's not too bad, but the painting guide isn't very accurate at all, once again I'm turning to the web for proper answers.

For the ~20$ I paid it's fine, and will make a nice addition to the shelf (it's also fairly large at ~18" in length) but I wouldn't pay more for it.
