Could you post some Sputnik drawings or dimensions for the rest of us?

Fantastic job Matt. You had such little time to do it. It looks so accurate. I also like the photo of it in your hand about to hurl it into space. The real Sputnik's launch was one of the major event so the Cold War

Here's the finished project, just before it went to FedEx. It looked much shinier in person:

So we're supposed to see your name in the end credit of that documentary!

It is for a documentary. I had to scale it to the final dimensions the production company wanted. It almost would have been easier to build a full-size replica -- the real thing was only about 60cm in diameter.

It's gotta go in a FedEx box on Friday (tomorrow!) so I'll have some shots of the finished model shortly!

Interesting.  I thought it was a lot bigger.  It's coming along nicely.  Keep posting.

Is this for the woman who was asking for a model for a documentary being filmed?

Nice job, Yann!

Technically it's Sputnik I, the first artificial earth satellite. It's a little smaller than half scale.

Ummmmh!  Let me see ........ This is the Atlantis space shuttle.   No no no, wait ........ the hydrogen ball that goes on Ariane rocket!

Seriously, this is the sputnik but you should ask us to guess what scale it is!
