Alexei Leonov's space walk

I have found that the site Encyclopidia Astronautica is very usefull, espcially for Soviet, Russian, or hard to find cold war refrences. Also the books "The Rocket Men', and "Soyuz a Universal Spacecraft" by praxis books, Rex D. Hall author, is full of very usefull info, as well as pics. Steve

I can provide you with photos of the actual suit worn by Leonov on his spacewalk.  I'm a volunteer at the Wings Over The Rockies Air and Space Museum in Denver, Colorado and we recently acquired a Soviet spacesuit that is purported to be the actual suit worn by Leonov during his spacewalk.  I have not yet inspected the documentation for this artifact and am a little skeptical that this is THE actual suit worn during the event although I believe there is a high probability that this might be a training suit worn by Leonov.  However, it certainly looks authentic.  The museum also acquired the inflatable airlock associated with this spacewalk and I can supply photos of that too if you like.  Just let me know what details you need photos of and I'll see what I can do.

I believe that the suit actually was used for training and is not the original. the airlock was the back-up. I beleive that both were sold at the Sotheby's auction of Russian memeorabilia in 1993. I understand that the buyer was from the Denver area so I am not suprised that they are at your museum. Both however are the single best sources for information regarding the suit and airlock.

Please post lots of photos of both since they are a unique reference.

I took these photos soon after Leonov's suit arrived at the museum in late 2005.  I don't have any photos of the airlock and won't until the museum reopens next month after renovation of the roof and ceiling.

The Cosmosphere in Kansas has a Voskhod 2 + airlock (tho not inflated) for anyone nearby to see. This place is definitely worth a visit. This is my image from the museum -
