I've bought two of those model/book combos and I really liked the books.  There are masks and decals available for the tile detail.

I have bought and built the revell 144 shuttle that comes with the book. I paid $29 bucks which I think is way too much for this  very generic kit. There are no tile moldings at all, although it looks half decent attached to the ISS. I haven't painted it yet .  The payload bay comes complete, and I had to buy styrene tube to complete the airlock to the ISS. I can see that it would greatly benifit from the tile decals.

Does Revell's 1/72 shuttle kit have the tiles molded into the styrene??????????? just curious. Anyone know for sure?????

Yann...... I sent you a pm on the large arrays.

Hi Yann,  Everything is done except the large arrays, which need another coat of Tamiya gold leaf, some small details then some slight weathering to tone down the contrast and make the MM aluminum look more realistic.  I have a film camera so I have to take them and get them developed then scan them.

Its a pretty big model and kind of clumsy. I don't want to hang it  so I think I'm going to make a wood base to place the whole thing on, and possibly dock a shuttle onto it.

I'll let you know for sure when they are done.

Thanks

Hey Wilbur!  When are you going to show that Space Station to us?  I can't wait to see what you did with it.
No matter where you go ....... there you are.

It is the same. The part count and dimensions are basically the same.  Revell hasn't retooled it in a while.  There are some arguements over which kit is the best in that scale.  Airfix and Revell are the front runners. Both have their faults but both can be good builds.  The shuttle is a generic space shuttle.  The slight variations a few have aren't really shown.  There are a few aftermarket set available.  The fin camera from Columbia is available.

I know that......... I was asking only about the shuttle vehicle itself. Is it the same in each kit?

The shuttle with the book doesn't have the boosters as far as I can tell.  There are a lot of shuttles in 1/144 around. I really mean it.

Does anyone know what the difference is betweenn the Revell 144 Shuttle that comes with the book, and the one that comes with the booster rockets???  Are they totally different?

because the price w the book is significantly higher at Tower Hobbies online.

I need a 144th shuttle to dock onto my Revell ISS.

Thanks for any info
