Is Revell releasing Spaceshipone? Has any one got confirmation of this. I think it would be a good idea.

I too would pounce on a plastic model of SpaceShip One, with or without WhiteKnight One!

Unicraft makes a 1/72 resin kit of SpaceShip and White Knight One.  Mostly Classics, I take it you collect stamps judging by your avatar of Scott#1 (I think, hard to tell from the size)?

Hi, cassibill --

Yup, in real life I'm a stamp dealer. You'll find me on eBay as "mostlyclassics" (auctions) and "Mostly Classics" (eBay Store).

I've seen pix of that Unicraft 1/72nd. It looks like it would be a decent build. And I really prefer building a good resin model over a good styrene model.

But the rumor is the Revell/Monogram offering will be 1/48th scale, which is my preferred scale for aircraft/spacecraft.

I searched Revell's news and I don't see a SpaceShip One.  Doesn't mean they aren't being sneaky about it.  I collect stamps a little.  I mostly just try to fill the Minuteman Album I got as a kid with mint.  I've been working on the Airmail section the last few years.  I've never gotten sups. for it so it doesn't go past about 1992, LOL.  I need to get it up to date and pick up another binder.

If memory serves, Revell/Monogram announced it in a press release mentioned in Fine Scale Modeler a while back. I've been waiting with bated breath ever since.

With regard to your collection in a Minuteman, nearly all of what the U.S. has issued in the last 15 years is just postage (there are notable exceptions). I sure wouldn't waste funds on updating the Minuteman! It'd be mighty expensive to find all those supplements, most of which are out of print.

I really should try redoing my avatar, since that particular stamp is in my collection. It's so small because a lot of other forums need them little.

I don't recall seeing it but I tend to be looking for 1/144.  I haven't seen anything about a Revell 1/48 SpaceShip One anywhere including Revell's site.  Currell Graphics has a paper one in that scale.

Amos Advantage has a set with a binder and the supplents from 2001 to date fairly reasonalbe.  There are a few older then that still available and I could find the rest eventually.  I want to do the whole album but the airmails where just easier to keep track of since I've gone off to college.  I've got most of them since about the '40s I think.  That's why you keep a list right, but mine's at home.  I get to one show a year.

The avis here are supposed to be about 100x100 be mine is a little bigger then that I think.  I had some trouble converting it.

There. I made a new avatar, 100 x 100 pixels.

It's the pre-2001 supplements that will cost. Typically, you have to fill those in year-by-year, and purchase from different vendors. By the time you pay the postage, you're talking about real money. And buying a totally new Minuteman album, now in two volumes, costs real money too.

Better now I can see Benjamin Franklin better.  (Benjamin Franklin is a family name for us actually. BF Wells, Jr (one of them, anyway. there's been several) was killed at Little Big Horn.)

I figured it'd cost me but eventually I'd pick up most of them. Right now the binder is the big thing.  With all the mounts, the binder is getting too thick.  I've tried finding longer posts with no luck.

Folks, we really should pull this thread back in line. This is a modeling forum, after all!

Here's another model to lust for, even if the thing hasn't been built yet. Virjin Galactic has furnished a computer simulation of a SpaceShipTwo flight to space.com: http://www.space.com/php/video/player.php?video_id=Virgin_galactic01

(You'll have to sit through a commercial first, but the wait is worth it. Wink [;)])

That's cool.  Don't worry we're always wandering off topic.  That's why we have one of theseSign - Off Topic!! [#offtopic]

They can go ahead and make the model of it.  The models of the ISS came out before it's built.

I can't recall where I read this recently, but the message came from someone in the Real Space modeling community. They had a converstaion with Revell reps at the IPMS/USA Nats in KC in August. Revell has decided to NOT release a model of the Space Ship One. They mentioned the reason, but I never saved that message as I was bummed that a decent injection molded kit would not be released. I don't recall wether it was due to the market for the kit not being there ( a good possibility) or that the license fees was too prohibitive.

It looks like the only option will be the Unicraft kit or paper models.........

That's too, too bad! Thumbs Down [tdn]

Thanks for passing on the info, Mike.

oh boy... It's sad to think that model manufacturers would overlook a piece of history like the SS1... I have a 1/32 scale of the tandem that I build a few months ago... its in card though... /forums/636723/ShowPost.aspx
