Is anyone here building FLYING model rockets? Scale models of actual space vehicles and boosters can and do fly. I've seen some very impressive Saturn V's and Mercury Redstones. The scale nozzles usually come off for an actual flight and the launch lugs are removable or easily hidden as well. I have an old Estes Saturn V that's waiting to be built up but I want to do it serious justice. It flies to about 300 feet on a D engine, but that seems to low for me. I'm told I can use an F engine with easily made modifications to correct center of gravity, but I'm afraid the added power might rip my model apart. I'll build it up, but I bet I'll be afraid to fly it. I've had CATO's (crash after take-off) when I was absolutely certain that all was well. There's no guarantee after the igniter is warmed up.
