Space Shuttle Tiles
Posted by Anonymous on Friday, February 7, 2003 11:05 PM
I am building a 144 scale Airfix space shuttle. Does anyone know how to simulate the tiles? Can decals be purchased? Can they be made somehow?

Thanks,

Mrdrago

Check out 'Greetings and Solicitations from Calgary' in the Welcome-Introduce Yourself Forum (currently on page 2). There's a few options discussed there. As far as we know, there are no decals available on the market. If you have any other ideas, please let us know!!!!

I just copied and pasted the link into the message. Wink [;)]

In case you didn't know this, you can move your mouse over a link and right click. It will bring up a menu. Select "Copy Shortcut" and the link is copied. Use the CTRL-V (pushing the CTRL key down and then the V key) to paste into your message.

If you want to simulate the tile pattern in 1/144th scale, check out this web.site. They have airbrush masks that will suit your needs.

I don't know of any decals to simulate the TPS in 1/144
scale and they would be too small to scribe on the model's surface (I'm trying to scribe them in 1/72 scale and they are still too small). As you probably already know, there are more than 30,000 of them. If you want to scribe or paint them you may want to check this web site, where
you will find drawings of top, sides and bottom of the space shuttle showing the tile pattern, these drawings are
in PDF format so you'll need the Acrobat Reader to open them.
