Redleg12 I see that I am not the only one who has seen this thing.

I to am having trouble locating pics of this rig.

I did snap a pic of one as we drove by years ago but hav e long since lost that photo.

I found some pics of 113's on the launch pad from the early 70's but these too are not what I am looking for, however they do have a pretty cool looking turret ring on the top of them but I have no idea what they would be used for?

I am going to do some digging around China lake and see what I can find, I just hope the guys in the black government suits come knocking at the door to ask what I am up too. LOL

It's really harmless.

Yep...that makes you want to puke, yellowish green

You can find a number of pics of this version. It woulld appear the have at least 3 of them (seen #s 1, 2 & 3)

There was an earlier paint scheme which as I remember was white with the old NASA logo on the side. Can't seem to find pics of that....yet,

Note this is an M113,  but they added the chrome searchlights on either side in front.

Is this the yellow green that the M113s are painted?

The current M113s are as described. The old NASA version was white with the NASA logo as I remember. I too am planning a NASA M113 build. There are lots of photos on the net of the green version. Still looking for the old version.

Remember, to use a M113 or M113A1. The photos I have seen, these are older M113s.

NASA maintains M-113s for Austronaut egress from the launch pad. They are a yellowish-green with large numbers (red if I remember correctly) on the front and sides. If you google "NASA M-113 you'll find quite a few photos

NASA have quite a large image gallery available online. Maybe have a look through it? I had a quick look and there are photo's of Astronauts driving M113's for launch pad egress training. Perhaps what you saw were the actual egress vehicles themselves?

I couldn't see any M113's like what you described, but I didn't go through all 400+ hits that a search for armoured personnel carrier returned. M113 returned even more. Good luck.

Many years ago I was at China lake California at the research center and remember seeing a couple of flat bed trailers with M113 AFV's configured for NASA.

They were solid white with the blue NASA worm logo on the side.

Also these vehicles had equipment on the top, but I don't know what it was.

I assume they were fire fighting/evac/hazmat but I just don't know.

Anyone have a clue of what I'm talking about?

Thanks
