Airfix produced a 1/144 scaleSaturn V. It is hoped that it will be re-issued for the 40th Anniversary next year

Within John Duncan's site is a Saturn V accurizing tutorial that he gave at an IPMS Nationals seminar a few years ago. This is very informative -

Also if you want to go bigger Sheri's Hot rockets has a 1:48 scale Sat. V - http://www.cjsaviation.com/

Try this site:

http://www.ricksternbach.com/SatV/Saturn_V_Clinic.html

and this one:

http://www.apollosaturn.com/modeling/modelman.htm

There has been a lot of info put out there for these models and there are a lot of good resources as well.

Dahut,

If you want to build an accurate SatV, get the Realspace conversion and decals from Space Model Systems.

For the money you'll have to spend on the Revell kit plus extras from New Ware and RealSpace, you'll be into it for well over $200.

For that kind of money, have a look at the Apogee Rockets 1/70 Saturn V: www.apogeerockets.com

It's extremely accurate, but it's designed for flying.  So there won't be any interstage engine detail or removable BPC/LES.  That stuff could probably be scratchbuilt though, and in the end you'll have spent about as much and have a big honkin' Saturn V.

It's not rocket science

Yeah I think I remember seeing one, in one of my local hobby lobby.  I'll have to check one out next time.

Right now I think your best bet is to use the 40% off coupon from Hobby Lobby and buy it there.  I've seen the kit several times in a couple of the Hobby Lobbys in my area

I made one of the Estes kits many years ago. I flew it a few times, then retired it. It was a fun model to work with. It only flew a few hundred feet before returning via a large parachute.

For aftermarket, detail, decals, and resin kits, try this site:

RealSpaceModels

The old Estes/Centuri Saturn V kit was surprisingly detailed as well, and you can actually FLY it.

There's a good article in the April 2006 FSM on accurizing the 1/96 Saturn 5 using aftermarket items.

Hay Thanks JMart,  I did some hard searching on google, and found a online store called HobbyTron that has it for 84.99.  The main reason why I'm interested in this is just from the fact of its size.  It'll take me another day or two, to make up my mind of which way I wan't to go. But thanks again JMart.

Revell (of Germany) re-released their venerable old 1/96 Sat V. Not cheap (~100$USD), but I rather pick it up new than off someone in ebay. kit # REV04805

There is an old version that was smaller, 1/144, 1/200?? you cn find that one cheaper..

the good folks in here will probably give you much better answer than me :)

Saturn V models?
Posted by DantheMan85 on Tuesday, July 15, 2008 12:13 PM

I've been looking around for one of those models of the Saturn V rocket, would my best way to search for one is to keep looking on ebay, or the next time I go my LHS is to see if they have one.  They have some pretty old models, so they might be my best shot.

Thanks
