Pin wash

I am finishing a Russian KV-2 tank and wish to use a pin wash over the dark green enamel base color. I have sprayed a coat of Future to aid decaling. My questions are is it best to pin wash over a gloss or a dull surface and what color would you suggest using on this dark color.

Pedrofed,

I wash over gloss, because the paint will not bleed across the surface like it can on flat paint. I'd suggest a dark brown color on the green; black is too harsh and I like the warm effect the brown gives.

i generally pinwash over gloss or satin and use oil or enamel paint thinned way down. Flat paint causes this paint to flow outwards into the surrounding surface since that flat is a porous surface. It just requires more cleanup of the surrounding area with thinner and a brush.
