Lacquer overcoats and thinners
Posted by Bwog on Monday, December 29, 2003 4:19 PM
Will enamel thinners and terpinoid dissolve my lacquer overcoat?

If so how do i keep it from striping my model?

What is the best method of "washing" your model with oils or enamels without damaging the paint and clear overcoat?

I've had bad results with future floor wax (as a clear coat)

thanks for your help,
bw

I've never used lacquer type of paints I'm afraid so I'm not certain... I'm however surprised that you've had bad results with Future. I've used Future over many models and this has allowed me to use a mix of enamels and acrylics (and watercolors) without any problems. What problems have you had?

In any case, washes made with watercolors would definitely not damage anything.. Check my post about weathering from washes to pastels.
