Corsair antenna
Posted by cbreeze on Wednesday, January 7, 2004 11:57 AM
Greetings,

Just finishing a Tamiya 1/48 Corsair. My first kit in a long, long while. Can anyone tell me how I could make up and install an antenna. I've seen a number of good looking antenna installs on some Corsairs posted on some internet galleries. How the heck is that done?

Thanks in advance.

The latest issue (Feb 2004) of FSM has a good article on fabricating realistic AC antenna wires, insulaters, & attachments, using monofilament fishing line. An F4U is even the subject of the article's photo !
Good luck, hope this helps.

Check Paul Boyer's "Building and Displaying Scale Model Aircraft" He shows how to make and string an antenna on an F6F Hellcat using stretched sprue and superglue. Same technique should work for any planes of that vintage, including F4U. The book is probably a comendium of his articles for FMS, so the same article might be in the archives. The title of the article is "Hellcat out of the Box"

Hope this helps.
