cockpit stencils

Here is a trick that I use. Paint the instruments white. Let set for at least two days to cure. Then paint black and wait about an hour. Use a wooden dowel, about the same dia as the instruments. Spin the dowel around a few times over the instrument to rub off some of the black paint over the raised areas. It only takes a few spins and soon you will have just the effect you are looking for.

I know exactly what you mean. Sounds like your in need of some placards. Real aircraft are littered with them. Apparently pilots suffer from memory loss and need reminders all around to help out.

Waldron Model Products makes beautiful photo foil placard sets and also photo reduced instruments. I've used them exstensively with great results. They make all the difference in the world. They make sets for most of the popular ww2 aircraft and some modern stuff too.
