Is this stuff worth the hassle and do you really need to follow all the steps on the back of the bottle? Also, do I need to use it on vinyl tires?

I bought a bottle years ago and like it, although I would imagine using isopropyl alcohol may work just as well.
I don't use it like the bottle says, I just wipe the surface of the model with it and let it air dry before painting. If you have a lot of dirt in panel lines, etc then it may be a good idea to scrub the surface with the Plastic Prep and a toothbrush as the bottle's instructions say. I don't think "dipping the part in a warm detergent bath for 10 minutes" as the instructions mention is necessary.

Wisdom is the right use of knowledge. To know is not to be wise. Many men know a great deal, and are all the greater fools for it. There is no fool so great a fool as a knowing fool. But to know how to use knowledge is to have wisdom. " Charles Spurgeon

Thanks Mike. Just getting back into the hobby and I finally have enough money to get some of the helpful stuff.
