Painting Invasion stripes article

I'm sure there's probably a thread related to this but I found this an interesting and easy way to paint Invasion stripes.

Brush paint them.Thats the way they were painted.Everyone in the model world think they were painted perfectly that the Contest Judges use hand magnifiers to inspect them.Thats I.P.M.S.for you.I have talked w/ww2 pilots that survived the war and they agree w/me.I recommend that when it comes to white, use the Warhammer line -flat skull white. It brushes good after a couple of applications.

The stripes look ok airbrushed but it is not politically right.

The only WW2 aircraft that were painted perfect by spray were the restored aircraft that fly today.

Go have a look in the D-Day GB buddy. There has been lots of discussions there with reference photos about the stripes. Plus there are bunch of killer builds going on there...

Even Band of Brothers got it right- uneven/not perfect stripes on the C-47s.

Too bad that the rest of their C-47s looked a bit too pristine ;-)
