Washes and recessed detail
Posted by JMorgan on Thursday, August 7, 2014 11:49 AM

How small a scale is too small  to add a wash to bring out recessed detail. I'm working on a version of the USS Enterprise B that has some recessed detail, but the raised detail is sanded away for the decals.

I don't know the scale of the Enterprise kit, but I normally add washes to 1/700 naval ships (the kind that float on water, not in space).

I'd think it would be appropriate, as long as it's not overpowering.

Good luck!

I have yet to apply a model that I found too small for washes, and I build some pretty small stuff.

I never had a model, that was to small for washes. Just take care that you dont have to stark contrast between your color and your wash. the smaller the model, the less contrast I would use.
