Harding and sealing joint compound paste.

I am using a pre mix joint compound for my walls of my Diorama. So i thought it would just dry hard,well its still soft,not bad, but still a little soft. So i was thinking,is there a spray and or liquid i can use on it as a finish to harden it up?.
