Extending a fuselage for civil airliner model

Hello!

First thing that comes to my mind would be a second fuselage to cut the right pieces out of - now you cen get one by buying a second kit - not really that much money for the time saved - or you could write Revell requesting an extra fuselage - which would most likely work, I already got parts this way two or three times. Buying an extra kit would probably be faster though, and it would also give you spare parts to do some extra tricks - like showing the flaps extended and so on. To add to the above mentioned comments, I would recommend buying the Zvezda 787 kit as they are the same molding and the Zvezda kit is a lot less than the Revell kit.

I was wondering if there was a more imaginative way of doing this & thought you could cut a few fuselage cross sections from styrene & then wrap in thinner styrene to make a plug - this got me onto looking at the profile of the 787-9 plug, to find that there are two, one fore & one aft. At least they don't seem to interfere with any fairings & seem to be just a stretch of the 787-8 without any complication.

Anyway, on my "web journey" (you know how it goes), I see that BraZ Models are making a plug kit, with windows for the kit, towards the bottom of this page;

Wow the Zveda kit is almost half the price of the Revell kit.......are there any differences in the parts?

I could get two for the price of one Revell.

Obviously I would be getting the after-market Virgin decals.

Two kits is really the way to go. Think about cutting all of those windows each exactly just right. BTW there was an article about how to do it the hard way in FSM recently. Reason being that the subject was a long out of production DC-9 kit and one was costly enough and hard to find.

WW, there is no difference in the kits.  I've seen WIP threads of these aircraft being built interchanging parts between the two kits.  Yes, the Zvezda Kit is at least half of the Revell kit.  If you look down the forums here in the Airliner section you will see my Zvezda 787 that I did using AM decals for United.
