Getting super glue parts apart

There is a debonder for CA available.  Many hobby shops sell it, or you can order online. It works great- takes a minute or two to work, then you can pull the parts apart.

Or, get in there and cut the axle. Turn the wheel around and glue it solid. Wheels that turn don't do you any positives, that's just a leftover from the "motorized toy" days.

I've seen a number of home remedies recommended, including bathing in warm vinegar; or warm, soapy water; or encasing the object in a damp paper towel and then wrapping it in plastic wrap to create a humid environment. I personally don't know how well those methods would work, but it's on the internet, so it must be true!

Mistakes will always happen no matter how careful you are. LOL! Paint & glue mishaps, hobby tool self-inflicted stabbings, split liquids on decals, PE/plastic parts breaking or flinging into the vast carpet forest or plains (bare floor) only to never be found again (until days later after your completed builds), etc... Well, you get the idea. We all have suffered these moments far too numerous to mention.

My take on that ;

The fact is , if you don't have the mistakes listed or over-glue or forget to glue then you are not building a model . If you do all the above at one time or another  , you are a modeler !

Some folks are concerned with the cost of commercial debonder.  But a five buck bottle will ordinarily be enough for many models (how many of those goofs do you make per model).  So the cost of  glue, debonder, accelerator, etc. is minor compared to cost of kits.

another use for debonder is cleanup. if you have a smudge of CYA on the plastic put a bit of debonder on a q-tip (DON'T SOAK IT) and rub the overage lightly to clean it up. just be careful it doesn't wick into the actuall glue seam. easier than sanding sometimes.

Amother tip from your Uncle Jay :   I folded and ca glued a PE part wrong.  I put a few drops of acetone on the joints and voila, it came right apart.
