With a flat finish, the colors are better blended as you draw and streak them down as they have more bite into the finish. With a gloss surface I find that the colors do not blend as easy and evenly. A gloss surface is great for doing pin washes where you need sharp details as in panel lines, bolts etc.

I know that there are two schools of thought,I prefer a flat surface.But I don't believe one is right or wrong.
