...or at least finding one in resin perhaps that is the cat's meow!
I'm working on a Tamiya 1:48 F-117A stealth and am in the process of super-detailing the thing from top to bottom. I'm even going to see if I can't get the canopy gold mirror plated at a local eyeglass lab.
The cockpit is of course where I want to spend most of my efforts, and would like to make it as detailed and accurate as possible. The seat is an ACES II which as I understand it is pretty common now in American fighter aircraft. I have a couple of questions though:
First, is there just one type (variant) of the ACES II seat or does it come in different styles depending on the aircraft.
and Second, I remember an article (FSM July 1990 pp. 26-29) on John Lopez, who had scratchbuilt Martin Baker MK-H7 ejection seats for his F-4 Phantom in 1:32. They were astounding! I'd love to be able to incorperate this level of detail but seriously don't know if I have the skill level to pull it off.
Any guesses or leads as to where to get good reference material on the seat and launch systems as well as possible manufacturers of aftermarket seats that are impeccable in detail or perhaps where to start in scratchbuilding my own seats etc.??
