I have read that you should basecoat black, spray future acrylic, then the final color. After that, you should sand away the final coat from the panel lines. The acrylic is a harder coat that protects the black from being sanded through.

I experimented when building my Monogram F-84F by painting the underside black and doing the lightly sanding thing on the raised details.  I sort of rushed through it but the effect was not too bad:

Thanks. I did pre-shade...and I might just give that light sanding a try.

Some say to pre-shade the panel lines black, then after the camo is sprayed on, take a fine sanding stick and lightly sand the tops of the raised lines, exposing the black paint. Would take a careful hand I would think...I would say just subtly post-shade the panel lines with a darker base color.

I run a very sharp pencil tip along one side.

Raised panel lines
Posted by IEDDTEK on Tuesday, January 19, 2016 11:19 AM

I just finished camming up a vintage Revell 1/32 Me 262 (Std Luftwaffe RLMs).The raised panel line detail is well defined and I want to make them stand out during weathering...which is next. (I haven't lacquered or decaled yet.)

What is the best way to accentuate raised panel lines?

Thanks.
