I use irridesant film that people use to wrap gift baskets in, its prettey much a cellophane plastic. it has that color shift from green to gold to violet.

Here are a few builds that I used it on.

Don't know about the HUD, but for the windows of IR gear (pods, recce windows, etc.) I have painted the Irtran lens/windows with a light yellow or yellowish tan, followed by a gold wash or drybrushed gold.

I have seen some people using a film on the screen of the HUD (Heads Up Display) on some of their aircraft. What type of film is this and where do you find it? I'd like to find something like that to use on the HUD as well as some of the lenses on Flir pods.
