source for dry transfers?
Posted by Josy11 on Sunday, December 4, 2016 6:20 PM

HI All,

I always like to try several new things each build and for my new build of the winter ( Tamiya 1 32 Spit - Mark XVIe ) , I thought I would try dry transfers instead of the many small water slide decals that always seem to give me headaches. I placed an order with a company called HobbyDecal and the order is 2 part. The site accepts your initial request and then is suppsed to come back with approval that they can deliver and then set payment request back to me. Well, one week later, my order is still set to "estimating" and given these guys web site looks like a relic from the early days of the World wide web, I am wondering if they are even in business (no worries, no credit card or payment sent) - So, anyone know a better source for dry transfers? - I really liked the stuff from HobbyDecal, as they had Spitfire specific transfers, but If they dont respond, time to look elsewhere

thanks to all for the suggestions

Joe

In addition to Archers, there is Woodland Scenes and a few other small vendors who do scale model related stuff.

There is also Letraset that used to be big for office products, before the days when personal computers began to do computer graphics.  They mostly do lettering and numerals, in a number of sizes, colors and fonts.  They also do things like math symbols and other symbols (electrical schematics and such). If you can find something that fits your needs, their product works great.

I just did a quick google search for dry transfers, and found there is a vendor selling products for make-your-own dry transfer lettering.  I have not tried it yet, but have been making my own decals now for about ten years.  Maybe it is time to try their process for dry transfers.

Archer transfers are now stocked by Scalehobbyist and Sprue Brothers.

www.scalehobbyist.com

www.spruebrothers.com

Both are very reliable sources.
