can anyone tell me if their is another way to join the track end's , other than a heated screwdriver blade , I've tried glue but that doesn't seem to work ,

I take it you mean the kit supplied rubber banb tracks. Have you tried CA glue or just the normal plastic glue.

Depends on the tracks. Dragon's "Dragon Styrene" (DS) tracks can be glued using conventional model glues or CA, as can the later Tamiya tracks (on newer kits from the '90s onwards, but not re-released older kits).

Just about all other vinyl type tracks repel most glues and can be melted together using the "hot screwdriver" method, sewed together using invisible thread or stapled.

On my tamyia m41 rubber tracks I used 2 regular staples on each side.

I put the stabled part under the bogies on the ground. Not my idea I read it somplace.

Looks just fine.
