I recently finished the Revell Super Hornet. It came out great (not a small feat for me). I weathered the plane with a few washes and some Tamiya pastels. My problem is the plane is weathered, but with a bright glossy finish on the canopy. (I dipped it in Future). Is it possible to just brush some flat finish on it? Will it cloud up the canopy? I know not to spray it.
Duct tape is like the force. It has a dark side & light side and it holds the universe together.
There's always a lower sheen clear you could try. Most paint manufacturer make them. I have not try this myself.
Even though aircraft get weather the canopies are always kept as clean as possible.
It will be interesting to see what the prose are doing with this issue.
I don'y quite understand why you dipped the canopy if you don't want it shiny.
I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so

Brushed or sprayed...pretty much the same result....clear part wrecked!
In the real world, it's kinda the nature of the beast. A canopy is smooth and "glossy", where the painted surfaces are flat finish. The flat finish (rough surface) holds dirt and grime...the canopy will not, and is cleaned/polished regularly.

Easier cleanup if there's an issue w/ the paint.
I have sprayed with Testors Dullcoat canopy as well as full aircraft, on heavily weathered plane. I don't think it looked bad. Old plexiglas in WW2 era and before, fogged a lot from UV. Walk through the graveyard of old air bases and you will see some cruddy aircraft with canopies barely transparent.

If you are saying the Future dip made the canopy too shiny, were it me, I'd bathe the canopy in windex and strip the future off.
I've done it more than once with drips and runs.
I have also striped future coted canopies with window cleaner. Windex to be exact
a the plastic was undamaged.
