Are you new to figurines in any scale ? I am . Now that said , there is a way to have them stand free if they are Not made for Military dios or aircraft dios . I have a general pattern for circles up to an inch . This also has hexagons on it . I draw two side by side and allow a distance of one half extra inch between the half circles or hexes .
This makes a nice base in .080 sheet . It does not draw away from the main item , which is of course the figure . Whether it's a General , Private or an Air Ace or a Pretty Lady they work well . That is if you don't want to put them in dios . try it , you'll like it .
The nice part ? You can Marbleize them with paint techniques or add Contact paper to the base and do the edge in a color like Bronze , Gold or whatever !. I do them usually in something to match or contrast with the base color . Tanker - Builder
