Has anybody ever used distilled turpentine to thin oil pains for washes? I have some and I'd like to use it if it won't damage a lacquer finish.

Don't do it!

Use Turpenoid insted. Real Turpentine will damage your paint and your plastic.

Turpenoid is a Turpentine substitute used with artist oils for painting. It woks great, and it won't hurt your models.  you canget it at virtually any art supply store, Michels caries it.  Some people use Mineral Spirits with oils, but I have found that it will make some manufacturers plastic brittle.

Hope this helps.
