Concorde Engine
Posted by newbie_tx on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 12:25 PM

Hello Modellers,

My first post so pls bear with me..

I am currently working on a 1/144 Revell Concorde. I have a question regarding to its engine. As per the instructions the exhaust is shown as to be painted in black however when i look at the engine photos its not black, its actually metal with a good weathering on it.

Can I get your suggestions for both painting and weathering instructions in order to achieve as per the photo?

thanks in advance

While Alclad has some burned metal coatings, here is a method I sometimes use. I start with a medium to dark flat gray (sometimes just use the primer I use, which is a medium-dark gray).  Then I drybrush some aluminum, dark red, and sometimes some blue.  Go real easy on the drybrushing (a wash might accomplish the same thing, but I find drybrushing quicker and easier).
