Who was it who gave the paper coffee filter polishing tip?

When I buff with the filter, I fold it into a pad. Creating a new fold will give you a point which will reach almost any spot.

This site's really great. By the way everyone is mentioning their own tips, I found out that the people in this site is better inventors than the guys in NASA bcoz we modelers try everything we had on hand to discover the 101 uses on every household things we had! :)

Pixilater's coffee filters are a great tip, but as I am currently doing 1/72, I have a heck of a time polishing up the crevices. Any suggestions?

I've done the same thing with the commercial grade paper towels the university uses.

I forget how I came across the idea of using the coffee filter. I remember that I used to use them for cleaning brushes & the paint cup of my airbrush. It probably happened when I tilted the airbrush a little too much over a plane I was painting......

I have a tendency to be frugal & resourceful (read : cheap). I sand with 400, 600, & 1500 grit, then get out the filter. Works like a charm every time. I fold it into a pad, and when it gets soft, I re-fold it & use another "side." They last fairly long that way.

I knew the tip came from one of the better builders on this site.

I use it all the time now to see what still needs sanding as it shines well enough to see any imperfections.
Who would have thought that the fibers in the filter would polish like they do?

That would probably be me. I've been using it for years. It buffs a shine into the plastic, and is especially good if you're applying a NMF. (And the price is right, too !)
