Too Much Futura!
Posted by chriscarl on Tuesday, March 25, 2003 12:20 PM
I have just sprayed Futura floor polish as the gloss coat before applying decals. Like a jerk I over did it, and it has dripped and beaded. How do I do damage control? Scrape/sand and redo? Use a solvent ? I don't want to hurt the paint underneath. Help, please!

If you painted with enamels or lacquers, chances are you can just wipe it off with either alcohol or windex. Go slow and do a test section first to make sure it won't harm the paint.

If you painted with acrylics, chances are that any chemical used to remove the Future will harm the paints as well. In this case, your best bet is to let the Future thoroughly dry (48+ hours) and then start sanding out the drips. You should be able to get the majority of the problems sanded out, and then shoot another coat of future over-top to blend everything together.

Chris,
Did this ever work out?
Has any else out there had success sanding Future?
