I use warm water, dish washing liquid and an old tooth brush. After I get them clean I use warm water to rense all the soap off. Let dry away from heat and they will be as good as new.

I have a polishing kit of 3200-12000 grit sandpaper that I have tried to use to get a smoother gloss finish. There is paint residue on the sandpapers. How do I clean them ? Am I pressing too hard and getting too much paint on the pads ? I know I have pressed too hard and sanded off all the paint from the high points of one of my cars! I would love any help from you guys .I read Pat Coverts article on polishing, but he does not say how to clean the sanding pads.
