The bow may lie in the nature of the formula of the specific batch of resin.  Local temperature might have played a part, too, as you've noted.  Not sure if you can ever be sure of the why.  I've got one of those bases from Squadron, too, and it's flat as can be.  It gets hot here in PA, too Wink

As far as preventing future bowing goes, I would secure the base to a wooden base underneath.  I would drill some small holes and use small wood screws to secure it.  They can be concealed easily enough with some putty to match the surrounding ground.

Hope that helps!

Best regards,

Brad

Resin Marston Mat

Hi All;   An inquiry for possible ideas. I recently bought the 1/48 resin Marston Mat from Squadron. Really cool detail, I like it and am will be using it for a P-38 diorama in North Africa. The only thing is it came slightly concave. Not horrible but it didn't lay quite flat. Notice I said that in past tense. Jeff V. at Squadron recommended heating the surface with a hair dryer and weight it down with something heavy. Jeff said if it didn't work satisfactorily, he would send me another one. But, it has been working. Repeated applications of hot air and strategically weighing the corners down with ammo boxes of 45 auto (nice and heavy and precise) appears to be doing the trick. It is looking pretty good currently.

Any thoughts on how permanent the fix may be and on why it bowed slightly in the first place? I know Texas can be a pretty toasty place and if got hot in storage?
