Washed up
Posted by Anonymous on Sunday, April 11, 2004 1:57 AM
I'm currently working on a Tamiya 1/32 F-14. Sof far it's coming out fine, but there is so much detail on the wheels I don't want to leave them plain white. I'm going to try a wash for the first time to bring out the detail. I could use some advice on what color to use and how exactly to go about it. I've read of people using everything from diluted oil paints to off-the-shelf model paints, so any advice on what would work best would be greatly appreciated!
Also would the same technique bring out some of the lines and shadows on the struts as well?

follow this link: http://www.swannysmodels.com/Weathering.html

I use what they call the "sludge wash" (recipe on that link), and follow the directions. It really is simple. I've only used it a few times, but have been pleased everytime. Some others use oils, but I've never tried it, so someone else will have to give you the recipe themselves. Good luck, and let us know how it works out!!!
