removing ca glue stains/excess ca glue

Thanks everybody.  I put some superglue on a piece of flat sprue to experiment on before I go back to my model.

@Don - there is no paint on the model.  I'm thinking I'll wet a cotton swab with it, dab it on the glue and then try to remove it.  Hopefully I won't get any on plastic that is untouched as of yet.

CA debonder is available and does work.  Some people say it is just acetone- this may be but I can't confirm that.  I use very little, so even though it is a small bottle I don't spend a lot of money on it because I do not use it regularly.

It does mess up finishes, so best use it if necessary before you get to painting.  One thing I have noticed- it weakens styrene.  Do not let it set on plastic too long.  I find the debonder softens the bond in about a minute, but be careful how you pull the pieces apart.  Try to cut them apart.  Otherwise you may pull a chunk out of one of the pieces, or bend or misshape one of the parts.

Debonder has rescued projects for me several times, so I make sure I keep it in stock.

There was mention in a FSM mag about using an eraser to remove glue. I tried it with a pencil eraser and it worked to remove Tamiya cement. Not sure if it will work on the glue you are using though.

Debonder is probably going to cause the PE to let go.  Might be the best way to go though, clean up the over run and reglue with a dab of gel CA.

    There is super glue debonder  our there that should do the trick. Never used it myself but seen it done in video. I Definitely want to pick up a bottle some time.
