Panel line accent/wash

I use pastel washes. I hear the flory washes are great, just haven't broken down and bought any to try myself. Yes washes will create the same effect as panel liner only washes in my opinion are easier and faster to do. Both in application and clean up.

Any time I try a new technique I test it on a piece of scrap or discarded part or a sheet of plastic.  Then you can experiment to your heart's content.  No risk of damaging a good project.  For a lot of painting experiments, in this area everyone keeps a stock of those cheap plastic party spoons.

thank you for the reply... I was starting to think I'd asked a really dumb question lol... I've watched the tutorials on the flory washes and they seem to be completely idiot proof.. Which is what I need at this point in my model making.. I'll give them a whirl thank you again :) 

 

 

They look quite interesting. I went and looked and I also found some called UMP clay weathering washes that look the same as flory. Watched a video on the UMP washes and they guy sprayed them on as well as brushing them. Might just give them a try.

Foxy, Flory washes are great and, as you say, almost idiot proof. Just be sure to seal your paint before applying the wash else it will stain the paint..........don't ask how I found that out  (my personal experience is with Tamiya acrylic). Just get everything sealed then slap it on and wait for it to dry, doesn't take too long.......and then wipe off with a slightly damp piece of kitchen roll and or cotton buds for the little fiddly places.........works a treat!

Flory are great washes.  I build mostly 1/48 scale aircraft.  I found over a matte coat they leave a more dirty grimmy look.  Over a gloss coat it’s easier to wipe away and settle in panel lines or areas you want.  

Thanks for the replies guys.... Now have a full set of flory washes on order... Although with what I do I have no idea what I'm using most of them for.. I may have to  branch out into other areas of modelling :)
