Gold Anodized Aluminum Effect on Motorcycles
Posted by paul m on Friday, November 19, 2021 5:23 PM

FIrstly, I'd like to say thanks for adding me to the group.

Secondly, I've searched through the forums and cant find a definitive answer.

After a 30 year sebatical, I've decided to get back into scale modelling, and bought myself a Tamiya 1/24 scale Ducati Panigale S. (I probably should have started with something a bit simpler) but never mind, I've got the bug again :-)

Does anyone have any experience they can share with me on how to get the yellow orange gold anodized effects on the front forks? Either with enamel or acrylic, or some other method?

My investigations so far have come up with I need a heavily glossed black base before metallic, then maybe some kind of candy ink overcoat?  I'm getting slightly confused about the confilcting information about enamel base coats and acrylics on top etc.

I'd be interested to hear anyones experience and guidance, or whether I should give up and shell out 35 quid for the Tamiya fork hop-up set.

Bear with me, I'm a noob and just getting back into this :-)
