Hi! Spiral Ladders anyone?

       This build is one of two in " N " scale for a personal project. My Museum now has it's own "N" Scale group. They suckered me in. So I chose what's logical for me. A small Two Module Distribution and Storage facility for Lubrication products and L.N.G.called MINSHIPCO PETROLEUM And FUEL Sales and Storage Company.

       The two modules will have a short rail spur, storage Tanks and Distribution equipment and an office. Lighted (Maybe) and with "Hot" paired tracks going by it. The Spur Will be live too! We started with a Halloween display back in October. I don't have room for H.O. so these two ships (interchangeable too!) are going to be one regular lube and lite oil Tanker and the LNG inland Waters Vessel. So during a two or three day show they can be changed out for variety. Each ship is about 16" long

       As You know My Commission Building Co. Before I retired, Was named MINSHIPCO. I figured the name is self explanatory! And yes, I am doing one more, A commission for Spring Creek Model Trains in Deshler, Nebraska, for the Owner Dave Zeucker! It's a Taconite Carrying Great Lakes Freighter and two Walthers Tugs. The Ship will be painted and marked for U.S.Steel! This is in H.O., The Freighter is almost six foot long in that scale! 

 Remember, my favorite thing is to take Aircraft Carriers and convert them to Large Tank Ships or something else Like Disaster Response, Lodging, Feeding, and Medical Response as well as Equipment ships. What better way to retire a carrier? If they can house five Thousand crew, Why not? Then, they even have landing areas for Medi-Vac and Cargo Choppers! Shoot that's one of the best Sword into Plowshares I can think of! 

I looked for older pictures a bit more last night without luck.

I didn't even know such ships existed and I have to say they are extremely impressive. Is this a commissioned build you're working on or just for fun?

        That's not a problem. I appreciate what you posted.  If I didn't have a really nice Dover Publications book on ships I bought at the Library's Yearly Book Sale, I wouldn't even have what I do. It is true, Older LNG Tank ship photos are hard to fine. Even ships seem to have shorter lives in this High tech world.

         This just shows there alternatives to a given solution, there's always alternatives and sometimes they are right in front of you!

I figured mine was too modern - I looked at a lot of ship pics so finding the older style will be tricky and no doubt require some luck!

         Joe, yes ,though that is a picture of a ship of the type from a much later time. The ones I speak of are about ten to twenty years earlier. The one I am working generally resembles a Guiness Beer tank ship. Which I saw a picture of about twenty five years ago. It was a ship owned by Dutch Exxon.

      The whole profile was closer to the water in terms of height and the size of the domes. The ladders you show would work, but they would still have a slight curve to them. The ship I have a drawing? of is from the late seventies and she is all white above the main deck and the Bridge also is closer to the water. The ship also had four domes on her deck!

I google Image searched LNG Tanker Ship and all that I could see clearly, had a segmented stair system in variations of the picture below. Is that a decent example of what your describing?
