Yes Pawel that was it. The stuff I had was not bendable at all. I may try warming it a bit next time.

To heat soften brass you have to get much higher than 212.  I think about 400 is about right.  A soldering iron can do it.

Hello Glenn!

So you're thinking something like this, right?

Dragon 1:35 M55 Quad 50 by Pawel

Well the way I did it without really thinking much about it... I just bent them. They migh have cracked a little and you could probably see them turning white, but if you're careful to keep the bend gradual it's going to be OK. It might be helpful to heat the parts a little using hot water but I didn't do it, I just did it on a hot day, that's all.

Good luck with your quad and have a nice day

Paweł

I haven't done anything in your scale, but in smaller scale, like 1/48 and 1/72, I've used used cable ties (aka zip ties) for ammunition chutes, like the chutes in B-24s and B-17s.

Finally moving ahead with this gun truck I set aside part done a year ago. Has anyone come up with a way to make a gradual bend on belt ammo? I'd like to at least bend it down from the breech into the ammo cans 90 degrees or less. I don't have enough to experiment and would like to avoid just a short strait piece from the cun to the cans.
