Magnifying glasses?

That's what I use, a glass lensed 3x jeweler's loupe, works like a charm. I recently picked up a cheapo flip-down plastic visor type to try out; you definitely get what you pay for. Not even worth the 7 bucks!

If you wear glasses, consider a jeweler's loop. They ar e 2x or 3x, clip onto the side of your glasses, and flip up or down. There is little weight, and you still have your other eye to watch for flying parts. I got mine at an optical store.

I have a magnifying glass that I use but I've also found that a strong pair of reading glasses also works well and you can get a pair in any drug store or dollar store. There real cheap.

I have a lighted magnifing glass on an adjustable arm and the "Jeweler" type viser magnifers. With my reading glasses on I can see hairs on an insect's private anatomy.

Good advise on the 'lights'!! Mine had them on it and I agree that they are totally useless. Just more weight (batteries) hanging on your head. I took them off of mine and threw them in my junk 'electronics' box. I was glad that I got it at a surplus/discount center and paid relatively little.

I use the flip down visor too. One thing I would say though is don't waste your money on the ones with the little lights on the side. They don't work worth a damn. You may want to consider the visor in combination with one of the magnifying desk lamps. That should give you some good functionality.

I have some of those magnifying reading glasses and a big glass on a flexable arm. I tried the visor but , for me, distracted from the building experiance.

I have a pair of inexpensive 'goggles' and I think I have to agree with you. It's kinda flimsy and the lenses get scratched quite easily. I'll keep using what I've got for a while, but the replacement set will be higher quality as you describe.

I use the Opti-Visor, and strongly recommend it. My close up vision went south after 40, and I thought my modeling days where gone for good. Getting one of these allows me to do much better work than I have ever done before. Do yourself a favor and get the best quality, glass lensed version - the glass is clearer, resists scratches, and the adjustment is both better and more comforatable than cheaper versions. It took me about 2 weeks of wearing to get used to having them on my head, now I just leave them on whenever I am modeling (or indeed any close work)

I have the magna-lite, and i love it!!! I do want to get the jewlers visor kind, maybe for Easter??? LOL

I've got the 'visor' kind. They have an additional 'lens' inside that you can flip down to magnify the subject even more. They're great. I love them.

My wife makes ALOT of fun of me when she catches me with them on though...

I have a magnigying light. It has a flourescent light, and I also use a small magnifying glass if neccesary.

I have one of the magnifiers that jewelers use that fits over your head and can be raised up and down like a visor. It really helps when working on detailed parts. My no line bifocals just don't cut it for close work.
