Cable and chains!
Posted by GlennH on Thursday, April 4, 2024 4:46 PM

Considering doing the AFV Club recovery vehicle and was reading about some builds. On one the guy was complaining about the goofy thread they typically provide for tow cables and winches. Since this vehicle has a great deal of cable I was searching for something better than thread as far as looks. Eureka has steel cable but no USA distributor stocks it.

I found this. Glad I watched to the end because he shows how to form the cable into a chain as well.

Ordinary picture-hanging wire from the hardware or craft store is also a great sub for tow cables on AFV models. Yes

Yes that's stranded wire. I forgot about that.

Also, I've found a lot of really accurate ship cable and chains being 3d printed.
