Depends on the severity of the cracks. Obviously if it's a "break" type crack, you might need to think about replacement. If its strett-type cracks - in other words, very faint and not all the way through (hope you all can tell what I mean here - hard to describe!!!), then oftentimes (in my experience at least) the Future treatment either makes them completely disappear or at least much harder to see.

I agree with all points stated. One more trick, Once sanded use toothpaste to polish. It works really well as a polisher.

Tom,
I'd suggest getting a lump of clay or putty of some sort to put inside the canopy when your sanding/polishing it. This will support the brittle plastic and make it much easier to work with. Clear plastic is quite a bit more brittle than colored stuff and sanding/polishing generally results in enough 'force' that can cause cracks and other unwanted issues with canopies.

Everything just said and then coat the canopy in Future. This will take out any irregularity in the plastic and give it a good protective finish.

sanding canopies

Hello.
I'm currently building a 1/32 scale A-10 warthog, and I have problems with the canopy. Some "lines" appear on the canopy (no scratches) as if the plastic's thickness wasn't the same everywhere. I'll probably try to sand it to solve this problem. But how to start ? I've got very little experience with canopies, and I don't want to break my canopy.
thank you for your Advices.
