Milliput Revisited

OK, this is gonna be one of those "I Really Feel Stupid" posts.

I remember a post a couple of months ago that either started or got on the subject of using Milliput. I haven't had a lot of experience with it, and thankfully I mentioned that in my post. I said something about it being dry and crumbly and asked if anyone new a way to make it softer and more pliable. Someone mentioned trying water and I had to sheepishly admit that I had not tried that.

Tonight I needed to plug a hole and about the only thing I could think of that I had onhand that would do it was Milliput. So, I got it out, mixed some of the crumbly, flaky stuff up, added a couple of drops of water. Hmmmmm ... this stuff is starting to settle down. Added a couple more and it got better again. Kept adding drops of water and it got about like modeling clay, or in other words, about the consistency I thought it would be like.

When I got finished I figured, what the heck, maybe I'll take a look at the instructions. Of course, big as day in black in white, right where I didn't see it the first time I glanced through the instructions it said that "Milliput responds to water throughout the entire curing process."

Soooooo ..... my thanks to whoever it was that pointed out that using water might soften Milliput. To everyone else, the instructions are there for a reason and we really should take the time to read them THOROUGHLY. And now I'm gonna go hang my head in shame
