I use the Scotch "Invisible" (frosty) tape. Like Mike says, use a new blade when cutting the frames. For curved "glass" areas, I burnish the ends of the tape. This leaves a buckled area in the middle, which I pinch with a pair of wide, flat tweezers. Once it is time to unmask, any residue can be removed by dabbing the area with a fresh piece of tape.
This canopy was masked in about half an hour with the frosty tape.
Hope this helps.
